About the Event
The Pride Georgina No Prejudice All Pride celebration is an inclusive event celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and beyond in Georgina, Ontario. Held on June 6, 2026, this festival brings together community members, allies, local organizations, and businesses in a spirit of pride, visibility, and belonging. We are looking for a passionate and organized individual to help coordinate our team of volunteers and ensure a smooth, joyful event experience for all.
Role Summary
This is an unpaid, volunteer position. The Volunteer Coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact for all event volunteers, overseeing recruitment, scheduling, training, and day-of management. This is a leadership role that requires strong interpersonal skills, excellent organization, and a genuine commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding
Develop and promote volunteer opportunities through social media, community groups, and local networks.
Review applications and confirm volunteer placements based on skills, availability, and event needs.
Communicate all necessary event information to volunteers prior to the festival date.
Ensure all volunteers complete any required orientation or training materials, including inclusivity and safe-space guidelines.
Scheduling & Logistics
Create and manage a detailed volunteer schedule covering all event shifts and roles.
Assign volunteers to specific areas including setup, information booths, accessibility support, and teardown.
Maintain a contingency plan to address no-shows or last-minute changes on the day of the event.
Coordinate with the event organizing committee to align volunteer activities with the overall event schedule.
Day-of Event Management
Serve as the central point of contact for all volunteers throughout the event.
Conduct a volunteer briefing at the start of the event to review roles, safety procedures, and expectations.
Monitor volunteer stations and provide support, guidance, or reassignment as needed.
Address and resolve any concerns raised by volunteers in a timely and respectful manner.
Ensure all volunteers feel valued, supported, and included throughout the day.
Post-Event
Collect feedback from volunteers and compile a summary report for the organizing committee.
Recognize and thank volunteers for their contributions following the event.
Document lessons learned and recommendations for future events.
